The
old-Fashioned town of Winnsboro, Texas is located about 90 miles from
Dallas in the northeastern corner of the state. The history of this
town goes back to the year of 1854, when a man by the name of John E.
Winn was passing through the east end of Wood County. That feeling you
get when you come into these parts must have overwhelmed him, for
he became the founder of this small, Old-Fashioned town.

Winnsboro's
original name was Crossroads, but was later named Winnsboro, on
April 17, 1901, in honor of its founder. From the Wildflower blooms to

and kindness. The people of this town and even the visitors take
part in supporting and promoting its many activities for every

date note, Winnsboro's 2000 US Census Bureau figures came in at
3,584. Now you have to understand, that's the city limits.
A 12-mile radius around Winnsboro for our immediate trade area brings
that total up closer to 32,500. So you see, we have all the charm
of a small town and a blossoming trade area. The perfect place
to relocate for retirement or business.

Improvement
going forward this past year include the multimillion-dollar expansion
project of Keller's Creamery. This project was
completed in 2004 and will increase production by about 25% making it
one of the largest butter plants in the U.S.

Another page in
our improvement and modernization includes the Nestle Waters of North
America, Ozarka Bottling Plant in Wood County. Just a short
drive from Winnsboro is the 400,000 square-foot plant that has already
hired more the double their initial start up figure.

TxDot and
Winnsboro are joined in a venture to widen SH37 installing turn
lanes at the major intersections and installing new sewer lines. Our
Sidewalk Enhancement Program is well underway.
