Winnsboro Area Chamber of Commerce
The old-Fashioned town of Winnsboro, Texas is located about 90 miles from Dallas in the northeastern corner of the state. The history of this town goes back to the year of 1854, when a man by the name of John E. Winn was passing through the east end of Wood County. That feeling you get when you come into these parts must have overwhelmed him, for he became the founder of this small, Old-Fashioned town.

Winnsboro's original name was Crossroads, but was later named Winnsboro, on April 17, 1901, in honor of its founder. From the Wildflower blooms to the colorful Autumn leaves,

Winnsboro celebrates every season that comes its way with hospitality, warmth, and kindness. The people of this town and even the visitors take part in supporting and promoting its many activities for every season.

On a more up to date note, Winnsboro's 2000 US Census Bureau figures came in at 3,584.  Now you have to understand, that's the city limits.  A 12-mile radius around Winnsboro for our immediate trade area brings that total up closer to 32,500.  So you see, we have all the charm of a small town and a blossoming trade area.  The perfect place to  relocate for retirement or business.

Improvement going forward this past year include the multimillion-dollar expansion project of Keller's Creamery.  This project was completed in 2004 and will increase production by about 25% making it one of the largest butter plants in the U.S.

Another page in our improvement and modernization includes the Nestle Waters of North America, Ozarka Bottling Plant  in Wood County.  Just a short drive from Winnsboro is the 400,000 square-foot plant that has already hired more the double their initial start up figure.

TxDot and Winnsboro are  joined in a venture to widen SH37 installing turn lanes at the major intersections and installing new sewer lines. Our Sidewalk Enhancement Program is well underway.
